2026 Bikepacking Schedule

There will be trips for straight-up beginners and trips of a more challenging nature, including at least 2 dedicated mountain bike trips.

Rail Trail Ramble (March 21-22) 

We're kicking off the season with a local ride, which will provide the opportunity to test out your gear, chat with others about their set-ups and dust off those loaded down cobwebs. Starting from Sun Country Cycle, we will take the Rail Trail around Wood Lake, returning to Kekuli Provincial Park for the night!

Cowichan 8 Loop (April 3-6) 

The Cowichan Valley 8 follows several popular, multi-use trails along the way, including the Galloping Goose Trail, Sooke Wilderness Trail, Cowichan Valley Trail, and Lochside Trail. Shortly after navigating Victoria’s urban pathways, you’re soon immersed in a scenic tour of what’s known as the South Island, eventually skirting alongside the Cowichan River before the return journey back to Victoria.

Kettle Valley Loop (May 15-18) 

This section of the KVR is an easy/moderate loop that starts and finishes in Midway, BC (Mile 0). The route goes through both the Carmi and Osoyoos Subdivisions of the KVR and runs primarily along a packed gravel rail-grade trail until Naramata. Resupply points, as well as options for camping/accommodation can be found along the route in Midway, Rock Creek, Beaverdell, Chute Lake, Myra Canyon, Penticton and Osoyoos.

Upper Nicola Loop (June 20-21) 

Starting at Salmon Lake in the Upper Nicola, we will travel through the Douglas Lake Cattle Company and Upper Nicola Indian Band territory for an overnight adventure with a stay at Glimpse Lake Rec Site. This relatively easy adventure is a great introduction for first time bike packers and is somewhat close to home. It features mostly gravel roads with the steepest climbing section on pavement.

Frog Peak Loop (July 11-12) 

Linking rail grades, scenic gravel roads, and stunning sub-alpine lakes, the Frog Peak Loop is the perfect beginner-friendly bikepacking overnighter to enjoy the West Kootenays. This logistically straightforward 107-kilometer route is a local rider favourite, packed with delicious café stops, swimming holes, and a touch of pavement to connect it all.

South Island Sundowner (August 21 -23) 

The South Island Sundowner is a 140km route offering a stunning panorama of steep hills, verdant fern-filled forests, moss-covered rocks, and dramatic coastal vistas. Without travelling far from British Columbia’s capital of Victoria, this loop weaves together the best publicly accessible trails and off-road riding to provide riders with a sample of the ruggedness and remoteness of Vancouver Island.

Mabel Lake Loop (Sept 11-13) 

Taking a CLASSIC Okanagan gravel ride and turning it into a fun and beginner friendly multi day overnighter, the Mabel Lake Loop offers both paved and gravel riding on well travelled FSR's. While it can be busy the scenery along Mabel Lake and the beautiful camping spots make up for it. Loads of creeks and the adjacent lake provide lots of water stops and cool off opportunities.
